Iconic for its distinctive combining of cartoon graphics and emoji embroidery with elegant silhouettes and a contemporary aesthetic, Mira Mikati is the London-based label creating eccentric garments, expressively informed by a passion for travel and an admiration for art.
Founded in 2012, the Lebanese designer began her fashion career five years prior, as a co-founder of Plum, the Middle Easts leading concept store. From there Mikati was invited to design a capsule collection for the Parisian label Façonnable, which garnered critical acclaim, attracting A-list fans including Beyonce and Rihanna, thus the rest is history.
The success prompted Mikati to unveil her own label, infused with unique wit and youthful charm, simultaneously heightened by the dependence of close art world connections, which beautifully inspire the seasonal collections. For AW15, Mikati worked with Craig Redman of Darcel, as evoked through the stapled statement of graphic cartoon badges, where as for SS16, Mikati collaborated with KAWS, resulting in the saturated colour varsity jackets, which embed the playful aesthetic of both partners through the implementing of a KAWS character for each jacket, keeping Mikatis signature silhouette style in mind.
From technicolour crochet to bold linear lining, rainbow stripes to scribbled illustrations, Mira Mikati is taking the fashion industry by storm.
