Madisyn Sherman is the face behind Moody Moon Co., a small business that specialises in the creation of fine art and block-printed clothing. By using her background in illustration and printmaking, Madisyn combines the natural beauty of the outdoors with carefully crafted products.
A skilled printmaker and illustrator from Washington State, after earning her bachelor’s degree in Art from Western Washington University, Madisyn set off on a backpacking journey along the west coast. Currently, she focuses on creating breathtaking artwork that skillfuly portrays the beauty of the natural world. Her vibrant pieces highlight the wide range of plant and animal life found in the vast mountain ranges and picturesque coastal beaches that she proudly considers her home.
Within her artwork, Madisyn strives to enhance the inherent beauty and organic qualities of wildlife by infusing it with a vibrant energy. By seamlessly blending two-dimensional and three-dimensional imagery, she constructs a surreal realm that invites viewers to embark on an imaginative journey. Madisyn has a tendency to produce artwork as separate entities, however each piece possesses elements that establish a connection among them. Occasionally, she will integrate a component from a previous illustration or print, serving as a tribute to something from the past.
With Moody Moon Co., Madisyn also places great importance on sustainability by repurposing secondhand and eco-friendly items into unique wearable pieces of art. Each piece is created using the linocut block printing method. Every design is sketched before it is transferred to a soft rubber block for carving. When the block is ready to go, the image is then saturated with ink and pressed into the fabric to create the final product. All items are carefully chosen and hand-printed, resulting in one-of-a-kind creations. Moody Moon Co. also offer a selection of fine art prints and illustrations all inspired by the outdoors and various elements of nature.
