Printed Matter presents the second annual LA Art Book Fair, a companion fair to the famous NY Art Book Fair . It will run from January 31th until February 2nd, and the opening will be held on the evening of Thursday January 30th 6pm – 9pm. The fair will be held at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA at 152 North Central Avenue in Los Angeles and is free and open to the public. You should definitely also Join the official LA Art Book Fair opening Night After Party, the 30th, for some nice music and drinks at 356 Mission/Ooga space!
The La Art Book Fair is a unique event for artists books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines, represented by around 250 presses, antiquarians, booksellers, artists, and independent publisher from all around the globe.
This years featured projects include a Queer Zines Exhibition curated by Philip Aarons and AA Bronson. There will also be small events like The Classroom series of talk and lectures curated by David Senior and a number of special project rooms. KCHUNG Radio will be there with live coverage of – and broadcast from – the fair. Also, MOCAtv and the LA Art Book Fair are working together to bring the audience a series of curated screenings, panels, and performances by amazing artists and performers, and the CABC will visit the west coast for a one-day conference for the very first time.
(XE)ROX & PAPER + SCISSORS is a huge subsection of the whole fair, featuring zinesters from home and abroad, together with the popular Friendly Fire section, by Max Schumann, and Fabulousity, an exhibition of ephemera and photographs by Alexis Dibiasio surrounding the 80s and the 90s Club Kid Culture in New York.
