The latest release from Bristol-based illustrator Anna Higgie is Constellation, a series of 3 giclee prints inspired by the birth of her daughter. She tells us; “I had a vision of her bedroom, and of her looking up at this artwork as a triptych on the wall, and of her imagination whirring away, inspired by the kaleidoscope of strange, brightly coloured images, objects and symbolism.”
The collection takes influence from the posters often seen on children’s bedroom walls, where there are different objects starting with different letters to teach children the alphabet; A for Apple, B for Ball etc. Anna started to play with that idea, plucking different letters at random and thinking of interesting objects to match, and the series took off.
“I’m not sure how child friendly all of the objects are, but I hope that whoever the audience is, adult or child, that the constellation of objects and symbols will create connection and dissonance within their minds and imaginations, endless possibilities and pathways between the shapes, objects, lines and dancing colours.”
Shop the collection of giclee prints via her shop. Each print is signed, and available in A3, A2, and A1.
