Lou Rowland is an Irish illustrator, printmaker, and musician based in Glasgow, Scotland. Her work imbues bright colours, patterns, and playful compositions. Lou is a graduate of NCAD, Dublin, where she received a 1:1 in Visual Communication in 2016 before completing her Masters in Illustration at the Glasgow School of Art in 2018.
Lou joined the Risotto Studio team in January 2019 working as Studio Manager and Risograph Print Technician. She now works freelance through Risograph and screen printing, illustration, and textile surface design. Lou designs and sells Riso prints and greeting cards along with screen printed handmade textile pieces. She is a regular member of Print Clan where she screen prints her fabric. Lou recently founded Wild Press; a new Risograph print studio based in Wild and Kind Studios in Glasgow’s East End, where she works as a designer and print technician.
Lou has often exhibited in Glasgow and abroad, and has recently been invited to take part in this year’s Glasgow Print Fair where she will launch a new print. She is currently working on an on-going series of screen printed handmade cushion covers, coin purses, and pencil cases.
