Michael van Kekem works as an illustrative designer and printmaker. His work consists of imagery within the fields of illustration, graphic design and printmaking. Michael works for various types of clients as well as creating some more personal pieces. His work has a playful and poetic aesthetic, whether it is a logo, a booklet, an editorial illustration or print.

Michael earned a degree in both graphic design and illustration, with both practices clearly visible within his work. He loves experimenting with different techniques such as screenprinting, risography, linocutting, letterpress and etching, and enjoys the diversity in handmade printmaking. This results in graphic, playful imagery with a focus on boldness, simple and poetic storytelling.
Exhibiting and selling at fairs in Europe, he loves to travel, gaining inspiration from the communities of printmakers all around the globe. Whilst travelling, the colours and shapes of changing surroundings inspired Michael to play around with lines, structures and shapes. The work can vary from figurative to abstract, and from digital vector work to hand carved woodcut, but his pieces will always maintain a playful vibe with a distinct colour palette.

Besides making and producing various types of work, Michael loves teaching workshops and courses to diverse groups of people, both young and old.
