Herr & Frau Rio

Herr & Frau Rio is a small Riso studio located in Munich, Germany, and a new vendor on our curated marketplace, Department Store. Specialising in print and graphic design, they create their own products and collaborate with fellow designers. The studio was founded by Sascha Wellm and Laura Sirch, who creatively connected after meeting at university whilst studying Communication Design.

For the duo, Risography is a printing technique that comes with many perks: amazingly bright colours, uncoated paper that has a beautiful rough feel and its significance as the most environmentally friendly printing technique. Riso printing allows for minimal electricity consumption and usage of waste products, as well as the production of purely unique products that are special through colour, texture and slightly irregular results. In order to let others share in their favourite printing technique, they regularly hold workshops to teach the basics of Risography, and design and produce beautiful printed materials for participants.

Herr and Frau Rio work with local artists and companies to produce editions, whilst also supporting other small businesses, such as book binders, that they partner with. “Every print job is a new challenge, and we love trying to get the best out of it and see the smile on a happy customer” comments Laura. Their product collection consists of qualitative handmade items including cards, prints and notebooks.
