Apart from their everyday tasks which include designing type and making sure their designs are both interesting and practical, Paris-based design studio Production Type also celebrate their ever-expanding library of type designs by creating a diverse range of beautiful type specimen books, posters and printed ephemera.
Thanks to their vast set of alternate letterforms and their expansive gamut of typographic shapes, their type specimen books enable us to reassess the relationship between print and typography. From Proto Grotesk type specimen that includes an essay by historian Sébastien Morlighem who investigated the origins of the word Grotesk to Gemeli Micro type specimen which features a historical overview of microscopic types, Production Type opt for book design as their means to communicate their ideas. Their collection is truly a source of typographic inspiration and is definitely perfect for any type/print enthusiasts.
We also used the awesome ‘Stratos’ typeface throughout the latest issue Print Isn’t Dead magazine. You can now grab a copy of Element 004 on our Department Store.
