Ink-p is a project created around the need to apply graphic design on all different surfaces and material. As designer, Antonio enjoys playing with colours, shapes, and different materials in order to give life to their creations.
Working and living from Firenze, Oltrarno, and Santo Spirito, the square, streets, and facades form their history, culture, and language. The forms and objects of the area take shape in their mind and are stylised, simplified, and drawn in their graphics. Lights and shapes are turned into graphic forms and colours, and city streets, buildings, and church facades form the landscape and the sky. All of these elements become playful shapes that Antonio can play with.
In their latest project, time and space become objects. “Time is defined by the quality and quantity of light; bright and dark, morning and night, light and heavy. I turned them into colours and shapes,” says the printmaker. The surroundings, streets, buildings, trees, sky, and clouds all become linear and neat, bright light flows into smooth and rough surfaces and all becomes one element. Antonio states; “Past and present, yesterday and tomorrow, our millennial history transposed into a moment…the present is identified by symbols that never get older. My artwork gives the viewer a rough idea of how I see the space around me… hanging between dream and reality.”
For this series, Antonio has focused on making simple shapes. They made a stencil that they could easily play with using brushes and paint roller, as well as using the squeegee over the screen for the flat coloured surfaces.
Antonio concludes; “These prints are masterpieces, and the use of brushes on stencils makes them even more special. I frame them to give them a strong body and allow them to be a defined work of art.”
