Desert Island has announced that ‘Comic Arts Brooklyn 2014’ will take place on 8th November 2014 and is also now calling for artists and comics lovers to exhibit at this event along with other emerging talents and young creatives. The first year was a success, this year, Desert Island is ready to unveil and present illustrated publications and comics artwork produced by the very best of US and international artists and illustrators.
Desert Island was founded by artist and comics lover Gabriel Fowler who decided to turn an old bakery into a comics storage and replaced all the old cooking tools with tales of idiosyncratic superheroes, graphic novels and affordable art prints. All the titles in the shop are carefully selected by Fowler with the concept being comic strips that you would want if left on a desert island. Desert Island also publishes ‘Smoke Signal’, a free quarterly tabloid comics anthology to help promote newborn and upcoming young bloods.
