Doriane Millet is a french artist currently based in Marseille. Passionate about narrative images, she works on personal projects including comics, art prints, and wall paintings. Conceptual, figurative, and emotional, her work crosses over a variety of domains including contemporary art, illustration, and interior design.
The artist takes narrative images from her books and prints them in limited editions, which are now available on our curated marketplace, Department Store. “I likes the idea that everyone can hang an image at home that will tell a story, and that my drawings are not only decorative, but that they allow reflection and introspection” describes Doriane.
Her artistic world revolves around the themes of love, relationships, femininity, fairy tales, everyday life, and disenchantment. Although dealing with sensitive subjects, Doriane builds her images in a very thoughtful and structured way. She often works with vector drawing, using Adobe Illustrator software. Clear-cut and infinitely adjustable, computer drawing allows her to shape her ideas in a very precise way.
Doriane’s drawings often become tactile pieces of art through the medium of Riso printing, and she adores “the random and artisan touch it gives to my works“. The illustrator also creates Giclée prints; appreciating the brightness of the pigment inks, and the preciousness that this process brings to her images. Printed on high quality archival paper, these pieces remain unalterable for a very long time.
