Horizon Launch New Website With Full Product Range

Makers of tools for designers, sketchers, and everyday artists, Horizon Creative Studio have recently launched a brand new website that premiers all of their incredibly designed, and super useful tools in one place. Their collection includes Horizon Helvetica, Horizon Helvetica Max, and Horizon Key, born via successful and impactful Kickstarter campaigns.

After working four years in an office job, Ufuk Koc, Horizon’s founder, felt a growing urge to build something of his own. He tells us; “I was constantly writing down ideas and sketching product concepts whenever I had a spare moment.” Strangely enough, the tool Ufuk used most often wasn’t a fancy notebook or designer ruler, it was his employment card. “It was always with me, had clean straight edges, and became my go-to surface for drawing and note taking,” says the designer. One day, while trying to sketch something that required a protractor, he realised how limited that little card was and at the same time, a lightbulb went off; “What if I turned this everyday card into a real creative tool? Something compact, made to last, and designed specifically for people like me who think and create on the go.” Along the way, Ufuk discovered just how many everyday stationery tools were made from plastic; disposable, breakable, and often designed to be replaced. Through Horizon, Ufuk offers something different: a tool that can last a lifetime and age beautifully with use. It is for this reason they chose stainless steel as their material of choice; it is strong, precise, and fully recyclable.

This commitment also goes beyond the product itself. Horizon’s packaging is completely free of plastic, so from production to delivery, Horizon is designed to be durable, sustainable, and responsible. Something people can carry with them for years and order with peace of mind.

One of the standout products available from their store is the Horizon Helvetica Max; their most complete and ambitious ruler to date. “It brings together everything we’ve learned over the years: precise layout, balanced design, and a solid feel in the hand,” describes Ufuk. The Horizon Helvetica Max is the swiss army knife of sketching tools, and is made for people who work with both analogue and digital tools with pixel, pica, millimetre, and inch scales all in one. The name pays tribute to Helvetica®, a typeface that continues to shape Horizon’s philosophy: clarity without clutter, form rooted in function, and beauty that doesn’t need to shout.

Other products include the Horizon Key, which has 11 functions from a bottle opener and screwdriver to hex wrenches, rulers, and a mini saw; and accessories such as a pencil case and leather holders for the Horizon tools.

Having originated on Kickstarter, Ufuk talks highly of the platform and what it enabled him to create; “What makes Kickstarter so powerful isn’t just the funding, it’s the connection. You get direct feedback from people who genuinely care about what you’re making. That kind of dialogue is rare.” He continues; “We always see Kickstarter as more than just a launch platform; it’s a way to build with people, not just for them.”

Ufuk and his team are very proud of the fact that they have successfully delivered all of their Kickstarter orders for the Helvetica Max and previous campaigns. He comments; “We’re constantly trying to improve the speed of our production line, but when you’re working with precision tools and detailed craftsmanship, it’s never simple. It takes time, care, and patience and our community seems to appreciate that just as much as we do. Thanks a lot again to all of our Kickstarter supporters who believed in us, supported us, and never broke that trust — even through the long production period.”

So what’s next on the horizon for Horizon? Currently, they are developing the Horizon Pen, their first writing tool. The titanium fineliner pen is inspired by the golden ratio, will be a limited release, and will be handmade in Amsterdam. This new product marks a natural step forward for the creative team; bringing their design values into the world of writing.

Ufuk is also “excited” about a new A5-sized notebook which is hand-sewn, minimal, and designed to lie completely flat. “It’s made for people who like to think on paper, sketch freely, and use something simple and well-made,” says the designer. In parallel, they’re also working on introducing new colour variations of the Horizon Helvetica Max, responding to customer’s requests. “It’s a fun challenge to explore color while staying true to our clean and timeless aesthetic,” states Ufuk.

He concludes; “What excites us most is expanding our collection without rushing — staying true to our materials, listening to our community, and creating objects that feel personal, useful, and built to last.”

Horizon are currently offering a free memo book with every order placed on their website. Don’t miss out!
