For issue 73 of our monthly poster-come-zine publishing project, Posterzine, we chat with Brighton-based artist Sophy Hollington. Well-known for breathing fresh life into ancient themes, from meteoric folklore to alchemical symbolism, Sophy creates beautiful works of art through the linocut process.
Sophy has brought her magical touch to work for clients including Nike and New York Times. In 2019 she hosted her first solo show titled Subliminal Mineral at Fisk Gallery in Portland. You may have also seen her glam-punk deck of tarot cards, published by Rough Trade books, which she created with writer David Keenan.
Inside this issue Sophy tells us all about her experiences of working with relief print, and the story behind her craving for the archaic.
Issue 73 was printed by Pressision Ltd using CMYK onto quality G.F.Smith paper and proudly sponsored by FRMD. Custom framing made easy, they offer a select, modern choice of moulding and mount colours. For 10% off, quote frmdpop in your order enquiry.
