Meet the husband and wife team behind Sunny Todd prints! Sunny Todd and wife Emma are based in the beautiful town of Ledbury, Herefordshire where they design and print together in their own studio. Since spending time as a freelancer customising garments using silk screen prints, Todd’s first big break came when Topshop commissioned him to design wallpaper and furnishing fabric for their stores. From that, he realised how well suited his printed designs were to interiors, and after meeting Emma, Sunny Todd Prints was born in late 2013.The duo are most passionate about the traditional process of silk screen printing, not only do they hand print their fabrics and products in their studio, they also design on their print table and see the process of cutting and experimenting through to pattern development. Their bold colour palettes are also born through this experimental approach. Inspired by the unique shapes and palettes of artists such as Matisse, Heron & Hodgkin, they encourage the idea that everyone should embrace more colour. “As much as we adore Scandinavian simplicity we think that it is only enhanced by great colour and pattern” says Todd.Sunny Todd Prints run hugely successful and oversubscribed workshops in their lovely studio, both one day weekend and 5 week long evening classes with one to one tuition/portfolio development as well as visiting lecturing around the country. Having taught screen printing workshops for 10 years to students of all ages and abilities- the pair feel extremely passionate about both the joy of design and the screen printing process: aiming to continuously share these enthusiasms to pass on their skill set.
One of their most acclaimed achievements is being named as Elle Decorations Name to watch, and are now enjoying the success of international stockists for their fabric and products. In addition, the studio has conversed in exciting collaborations with clients such as Flock, Canadian company Gallant & Jones and limited edition cushion collection hand printed in exclusive colours for Heals and hand woven wool rugs with Floor_story. Having recently displayed at their first trade show, London Design Fair, they launched a stunning collection of knitted lambs wool blanket featuring their classic patterns in their characteristic popping colours but in super fun, super sized scale.Future plans consist of another collection of rugs with Floor_story, silk dresses with Anthropologie, exclusive gift wrap for British watch brand Freedom to Exist, swimwear with another British company, and bed linen and cotton blankets with an exciting European brand.
