Seeing London from a different perspective through experimenting with angle and scale, Pattern of the city is a joint exhibition in collaboration with Timber Yard. Featuring London based creatives Elsie Wong and Kathryn Hassan; their work looks at the juxtaposition and synchronicity of metropolitan and natural landscapes.
Working predominantly in pen and ink, artist and graphic designer, Elsie, draws inspiration from the city around her. In an exploration of feeling close to nature amidst the chaos, she aims to capture the contradictions of the urban environment where green spaces co-exist happily with hectic city life.
Having graduated from Hong Kong polytechnic university with a degree in visual communications and previously working in a small publishing house in Sheung Wan, Elsie continues to pursue her love of paper and books by creating paper products and drawings.
Former fashion print student, Kat, is a mixed media illustrator. Working with patterns colours and textures she fuses traditional hand drawn methods, collage, photography and digital illustration. Her collage series encapsulates the spirit of London, personifying it and attributing a character to each different area. Previous clients include Laura Mvula for the Proms, Amelias Magazine, The Charterhouse, Diesel, and Good Beans Cold brew coffee.
