You may be disappointed when approaching Aufschnitt Berlin for what seems like its intended purpose but that initial disappointment will undoubtedly disappear when you step inside and discover the wonderful world of textile curiosities and delicacies beautifully decorating the concept butchery.
Created by Silvia Ward, the idea initially arose after her studying of Clothing Technology, when she used to deliver her clients miniature sausage brooches as extras. The promotional gifts proved so popular that Silvia established the unique home and lifestyle label Aufschnitt Berlin, catering customers with distinctive home accessories, technically constructed through the use of cotton, lycra, micro fibre, synthetic leather and screen printing. To further implement the mesmerising realist aesthetic, the products are paired with original butcher trade materials, from the waxed wrapping paper iconic to the traditional German butchery to the original meat grinder complimenting and further infusing the realism embedded within the style of the store.
The contrasting relationships of perception, culture, abstraction and grotesque humour are all embedded within the authentic products produced. Irony is intelligently infused regarding the fact Silvia Ward is a vegetarian but embeds her dislike for meat as the prominent theme of her marvellous handmade creations. Bakery baguettes, textile organs and fruit market finds are also amongst those exclusively sold.
