An exciting collaboration between Color Library and Risolve Studio has produced an amazing and first of its kind book: The Color Library: Risographic Printing Guide. The publication showcases a wide range of Riso ink colour profiles created by Color Library, and Risograph printed by Risolve Studio. The 136 page book features 20 Riso ink spot colours in various 2, 3, and 4 colour combinations, and presents 67 unique Riso colour profiles created by Color Library.
Color Library is a large database of digital colour profiles available for artists, designers, photographers and printers. They operate with an aim to widen the possibilities of colour printing, and reflect on our contemporary perception of colour and how it is shaped by the recent developments in print production. The platform offers a large variety of colour combinations, from basic to metallics, neons, and pastels. Colour Library make is easy for images to be printed in offset, flexography, silkscreen, risograph or any other printing technology that uses spot colours.
Colour profiles are computer programmes that are used to ensure colour calibration by accurately translating from one colour space to another. Normal images for printing are specified in the CMYK colour space. However, it is also possible to reproduce images by only using two or three non-CMYK colours. These special colours are commonly called “spot colours” which are the foundation for these beautiful colour profiles.
The other half of the collaborative duo, Risolve Studio, provide print services for a wide variety of individuals and companies globally, including educating newcomers about the benefits and the beauty of the Riso printing process. They celebrate Riso printing and work to expand the technical limits and boundaries of the digital duplicator process.
