Poster_Escape is a new collection of 36 posters by Prague-based graphic designer Mario Carpe. Each of the posters has been designed within a concept that mixes society, daily life experiences, and humour. The link between them all: escape. “Humans, animals, and aliens try to find disconnections from reality and everyday life in several ways. Sometimes escaping from the escape itself,” says Mario.
The idea behind each design was vital to the project, and was researched by Mario before he began his sketches. Once he had spotted what he wanted to communicate, he would then begin to draw. Sometimes, this process was done pretty quickly, and at other times he had to go back to his sketchbook multiple times to refine the design. During the design process, Mario leaves his sketches to “rest for some time”, coming back to them again after some time to see if still makes sense. He comments; “I treat the whole working process as a way to know myself better. Let’s say that I use it also to study myself and evolve. My intention has been also to produce them all within a similar style and direction.”
The poster series is typical of Mario’s style, which is eclectic, mixing design and illustration. He states; “I believe that design can be illustrated and illustration can be designed, taking the best of each field and creating a truly unique, eye-catching, and outstanding result that you will not find anywhere else”.
You can purchase the posters in a 50×70 format from mariocarpe.com/store.
