Gradspotters is People of Print’s brand new platform dedicated to championing emerging talents in the fields of print and design. We are currently accepting applications from recent graduates who are looking to forge their future in the print industry and join a thriving and supporting community of like-minded individuals. Joining the platform comes with a heap of benefits including showcases on our platforms, guided mentorship, and ongoing support. Below, we check out the work of one of our incredible applicants so far, Rosie George, a recent graduate from Falmouth University whose work fuses graphic design, photography, art direction, and illustration.
One of the projects she shared with us is Pleasure; an offset and screen printed magazine that celebrates the power of the female gaze. Embracing diversity and inclusivity, in the magazine Rosie shatters conventional boundaries and embraces fluidity whilst exploring the theme of desire. She states; “My mission was to redefine the way we perceive and understand the female and gender non-conforming experience through the lens of art”.
During the process of creating Pleasure, the design challenges Rosie faced were twofold: crafting a visually captivating platform whilst simultaneously fostering an atmosphere of safety and trust. Balancing artistic aesthetics with sensitivity, she ensured that the voices they showcased felt protected, embraced, and empowered, establishing a sanctuary where vulnerability flourished, and authentic perspectives found solace. To achieve this delicate balance, Rosie employed thoughtful curation, inclusive imagery and vocabulary, and a supportive editorial approach, fostering an environment where subjects felt valued and heard.
The magazine is a rich publication bursting with poetry, interviews and experiences carefully brought together through typography, photography, and collage.
