We have been overwhelmed with hundreds of amazing submissions for the Graduate Print Awards 2014. Once again we have been massively impressed by the high standard of work. The competition is open until the end of July, so if you haven’t submitted yet, you can do it here. The only rule is that your work has to be print-based somehow and you must have graduated this year. It is also time to announce some of the great partners that we are working with. We have put together some incredible prize packages for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
WeTransfer
First up is the online giants WeTransfer, offering a revolutionary service that has made file sharing easier than ever before with the ability to share up to 2GB of data, they have become a daily tool in every designers desktop. They have kindly donated a WeTransfer Plus account for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners – which enables you to send files up to 10GB with a customised background and personal url.
London Graphic Centre
London Graphic Centre, one of the top artist materials suppliers in the world. Founded in 1973 London Graphics Centre has become one of the leading suppliers to the art and design community. Whether it is online or at one of their four large London stores, their huge in-store range and quality products offer everything you could ever need. The 1st prize winner will receive an amazing £100 voucher and £15 vouchers for 2nd and 3rd place.
Well Hung
To make the most of your artwork we have teamed up with print and frame specialists Well Hung. Making everything bespoke and in-house, the team which have decades of experience in the print and fine art industry use the best possible equipment and material, making quality results the priority of what they do. Well Hung are offering a framing service for 1st place for any print or artwork, framed to your specification to the value of £75. For second place they will be giving away a £25 voucher towards any printing or framing service, and for 3rd prize a voucher for the value of £15.
Icon Printing
Having your artwork translated in to a beautiful, high quality printed garment is a great way to promote your self as a designers as well as producing garments to sell. Icon Printing offer a huge option of print to garment facilities, with personal advice for the best method to print for you. For the lucky 1st prize winner they will receive a £100 t-shirt printing voucher that can be used towards any t-shirt/ printing method. For the 2nd and 3rd place winners they will receive their very own American Apparel fine jersey t-shirt with DTG printed design of their choice. The relatively new Digital to Garment printing process allows intricate designs and full colour images to be produced with a high quality accurate finish.
Sonsoles Print Studio
A great place to experiment or keep up your print skills is Sonsoles Print Studio in Peckham. The open access studio is one of the friendly places to print. You will get a full induction to the facilities and a fully equipped studio that makes this a great place to produced your own hand-printed, hand-made work. For our 1st prize winners Sonsoles have donated a free 1 year membership (induction not included). Membership includes 1 locker to store your materials for the year, access to shared plan chest storage, use of light box, cutting mats and preparation table, communal kitchen, eating area & free WiFi. 2nd prize includes a free induction worth £20 when you join as a member and for 3rd prize a free printing session worth £13 when you join as a member.
Risotto
Gabriella Marcella is a Glasgow based designer and director of RISOTTO print and design studio. RISOTTO specialises in risograph printing and provides events, venues, labels and individuals with all manners of creative print and design. Her clients range from Dr Martens and Urban Outfitters, to Inverness Public Library and the BBC. 1st place winner will receive 50pcs, A3 three colour riso prints + Risotto goodies (prints,calendar etc).
theprintspace
theprintspace was founded to empower photographers and artists to take control of their images and has been leading the way in revolutionising digital printing since 2007. theprintspace pro lab and gallery is based in Shoreditch, East London and offers a full professional quality printing, mounting, and framing service. Their innovative open loop system placed control of printing back in the hands of the artists, and allowed professional quality printing to be available at a fraction of the cost. As the 1st place winner you will receive a 30″x20″ print of one of your images on any of our pro C-type and Giclee papers & a sample pack containing all our 11 paper types. As the 2nd and 3rd place winner you will receive a 30″x20″ print of one of your images on any of our pro C-type and Giclee papers.
The AOI
The Association of Illustrators (AOI) is a non-profit trade association with a membership of around 1,700 freelance illustrators, agents, students, colleges and commissioners. Established in 1973, it is the leading body to represent illustrators in the UK and campaigns for illustrators rights, continually working to increase the professional standing of illustrators, commercially and artistically. It’s publication, Varoom the illustration report, is a unique large format publication commenting on and discussing in depth the contemporary illustrated image. 1st Prize will win a free one year subscription to Varoom and all Varoom back issues. 2nd place will win a free one year subscription to Varoom and 4 Varoom back issues and 3rd Prize, a free one year subscription to Varoom.
