Lisa Goebel, also known as The Naughty District, is a freelance communication designer and illustrator whose work blends analogue print processes with digital experimentation. Since launching her independent practice in 2022, her illustrations and printed works have been exhibited in cities including Berlin, London and Madrid.
At the centre of Goebel’s practice is a fascination with print. Techniques such as risography and screen printing play a key role in shaping her visual language, allowing her to experiment with colour, layering and texture in ways that digital tools alone cannot replicate.
Her work often moves between the physical and the digital. Drawings may begin as hand-made sketches or printed experiments before being developed further through digital processes. This hybrid workflow gives the work a distinctive character, combining tactile imperfections with bold graphic compositions.

The imagery itself frequently enters surreal territory. Strange plants, distorted animals and dreamlike environments appear throughout her illustrations, creating scenes that feel both playful and slightly uncanny.
Rather than presenting fixed narratives, Goebel’s work invites viewers to bring their own interpretations.
“I’m fascinated by the possibilities that open up when design moves beyond the rules of reality,” she explains. “I want the work to create a world that viewers can step into and imagine their own stories inside.”

Alongside her personal artwork, Goebel regularly works on commissioned projects, particularly within music and event culture. Her clients often approach her for gig posters, event visuals and record cover designs, areas where her expressive style and print-focused approach naturally fit.
Operating under the name The Naughty District, Goebel continues to explore the boundaries between illustration, graphic design and printmaking, building a body of work that celebrates experimentation and the endless possibilities of visual storytelling.
