Dublin artists make a splash to celebrate the 100th Liffey Swim

posted by Robyn Pitts August 7, 2019

Dublin’s iconic Liffey Swim celebrated its 100th race this summer with more than 500 men and women competing in a 2.2km swim through the city centre. To celebrate this year’s big anniversary of the race, some of Dublin’s leading artists and illustrators have come together to create an artistic tribute to this incredible spectacle with a collection of limited edition screenprints, hand produced by local creative studio Damn Fine Print and on display at Om Diva in Dublin.

Featuring Dublin-based and internationally recognised artists such as Annie Atkins, Steve Simpson, M&E, Fuschia Macaree, Peter Donnelly, Alan Dunne, Niall McCormack and more, the prints are all made by hand in Dublin.

Commenting on the show, Damn Fine Print’s creative director Kim Willoughby said: “The Liffey Swim is an incredible home-grown spectacle right here in Dublin that has always been celebrated by photographers and artists the world over… There’s something really magical about seeing hundreds of people swimming through the middle of our capital and we’ve hoping to immortalise that with a series of fun prints by some of the finest illustrators working in Ireland today.”

You can catch the show at the Om Diva atelier, Drury Street, until Tuesday August 13th 2019. The limited edition prints will also be for sale throughout the exhibition and online here.
