NIGHTED Life 9: Gone

posted by Marcroy March 2, 2016

Met with the task of exploring the topic of death through film photos and personal writing, zine publisher NIGHTED presents its ninth group installment titled “NIGHTED Life 9: Gone”. Eight photographers were asked to answer one of three questions: What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? What do you want done with your body when you die? Which death has had the biggest impact on your life and why?

When asked why the focus on mortality and death for the latest group zine, NIGHTED founder Nick Garcia blames, “Getting older and rethinking my priorities.” Visually, NL9 captures the essence of change, uncomfortable adjustments, Americana, rubber floor mats, long drives to the homes of distant and aging relatives, rejection and acceptance. With one taboo topic at the forefront, NL9 dissects the unchanging and undeniable experience we’re all promised in life—death.
