The world-wide-wonderful-web is a land of opportunity, with rapid developments in technology and communications, the digital landscape has become a breeding ground for content creators across the globe. Artists, designers, musicians and everything in-between have the ability to showcase their work and access inspiration from the most remote of places. Yet, with over 300 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every single minute and over 100 million photos and videos uploaded to Instagram every day, sometimes, it becomes a whirlwind of noise, a never ending black hole. How do young, enthused creatives find inspiration, showcase their talent and reach their full potential within their working environment. Meet The Design Fix.
In January 2017, HotShot Agency’s Creative Lead, Amy Kilner, was frustrated at the quality of content being shared within the design community online and bewildered by the opportunities being missed by young, uber-talented designers through poor social media practise. Only some months prior, Amy had posted a custom piece for Fatboy Slim and with a few basic targeting practises, landed a commission with the globally renowned artist that now sits proudly on his studio wall. Amy felt a need to introduce a channel that facilitated exposure for talented designers but also acted as a place to stay inspired on a journey of twists and turns. The Design Fix was born.
Utilising the hashtag “#thedesignfix” on Instagram, the pages and posts quickly gained popularity and now boasts 120K posts utilising the tag and a page that now has 35K, organic followers. As the concepts popularity has developed exponentially, this week sees the launch of a revitalised platform spanning across social media channels and a bespoke new website that aims to empower creatives through inspirational features, industry leading event workshops and the strongest local, national and international news within design!
The Design Fix is now actively searching for graphic design, events and inspirational contributors to feature on the platform. To get involved with the future direction of this exciting concept, please get in touch with Amy.
