Micke’s confident hand and unapologetic choice of chromatically lush material’s, such as Posca pens, dense acrylic and riso inks, reward his audience with a visually delightful series of hand-generated arrangements. His abstract ‘Shapes Parties’ make use of balance, colour & contrast to showcase his masterful embrace of the primary palette. The bright and snappy works all recall his most prominent influences – Scandinavian design, Japanese comics and the balmy Sydney summertime.

Micke studied printmaking at The Camberwell College of Art in London. After which, he spent some years living in London & around Europe, before finally landing in Sydney. Over the course of his travels his work developed from illustrations of monsters and animals, to the more abstract and playful ‘Shapes Parties’, flowers, plants and playful type posters. Micke wasted no time submerging himself in the local Sydney scene and is now a proud member of risograph print collective Pinch Press.

Micke has had two shows in Sydney, both exhibiting his colourful compositions of shapes. Earlier this year Micke exhibited his work for the first time in Asia at Hong Kong gallery Odd One Out. The Solo Exhibition ‘Flower Pot’ featured drawings, sculpture and silk screen prints of his flowerpots.

Selected clients include Studio Moross, The Powerhouse Museum Sydney, Kafnu Sydney, Everpress, Risotto Studios and Merci Mercredi.

Micke’s ‘That’s a fun guy’ book featuring 100 new abstract drawings of fun guys will be available in his online store.
