Design studio Kars + Boom, led by the vibrant duo Kevin Kars and Cynthia Boom have just launched their latest collection Twist & Turn at Object 2025, the annual design festival based in Rotterdam. In addition to this collection, the studio will also unveil a brand-new rug and matching cushions produced in collaboration with Mondilab.
Since 2010, Studio Kars + Boom have been creating illustrative objects, prints, and installations that surprise and invite interaction. This new collection of sculptures and homewares is characteristic of their playful and graphic style, reflecting their inspiration from both rural and urban landscapes, and exploring rhythms, patterns, and geometric interactions that tell a story.

The Twist & Turn collection is the result of a creative process that took a year and a half. What started as experiments with polymer clay evolved into porcelain wall sculptures that allow for unique compositions. By playing with the shapes, a dynamic pattern emerges on the wall. Moreover, the sculptures are not only decorative but also functional, serving as small wall-mounted shelves.

The development of this collection required a meticulous process, starting with the first forms crafted in plaster, followed by the creation of moulds. This approach enabled the transformation of iconic shapes from earlier prints into three-dimensional sculptures.
Alongside the sculptures, their new range of textile homewares also embody the studio’s signature style: graphic, playful, and surprising. Every element of the presentation contributes to a total experience where colour, form, and interaction come together.
Object 2025 takes place from February 14 to 16, AIR Offices, Rotterdam.
