Poster Rex was founded by Markus Lange and Lars Harmsen (Slanted Publishers) back in 2014 after a silkscreen print workshop in Havanna in Cuba. Throughout the following years they have hosted many printing sessions in print studios across the world. For each session they invite an artist/designer to create unique posters on a specific topic in an experimental workshop format. All posters are printed by hand with Silkscreen or with other digital or analogue techniques. Today, their collection includes over 2.000 unique posters. Poster Rex have worked in collaboration with designers such as Jiri Oplatek of Claudiabasel in Basel, Mirko Borsche in Munich, Frank Höhne in Leipzig, Edwin van Gelder of Mainstudio in Amsterdam, Peter Bankov in Moscow, Gregorz Laszuk in Warsaw and many more.
For their latest project the duo travelled to Athens, Istanbul, Moscow and Kiev to visit local designers and bring them together with designers from Poland. In this intense 2 week period they visited 4 different cities and in each city created posters in local silkscreen workshops.
After completing their tour they decided to cement and evidence their experiences and impressions into a publication. These printed pages give a glimpse into the journey, meetings, workings and good times they experienced with local artists and poster designers from Poland.
DIARY OF AN APPROACH is a collection of designs, posters, printed matter and the visual road trip of two passionate printers and friends.
