Claudelle Girard’s graphic prints offer a combination of nature, science, psychology, and culture. Passionate about craftsmanship, originality, and authentic self-expression, she creates designs that are both strong and introspective. Claudelle’s background in graphic design shines through with a bold, illustrative style featuring figurative elements, typography, and more abstract concepts, blurring the lines between the internal and external.

With over 25 years of experience in graphic and UX design, Claudelle balances her digital expertise with the tactile, hands-on craft of printmaking; a practice that is both experimental and precise and that allows her to step away from the screen and immerse herself in the physicality of ink and paper.

It was love at first try with relief printing for Claudelle. She first experimented with it in art college, and later returned to the method when she was gifted an old school press in 2019. She tells us; “The different stages of the linocut printing process are all equally exciting; from the creative spark, exploration and sketching stage, to the carving process which requires patience and transforms into a meditative practice, while the final stage—printing—is both physically and technically demanding.” Today she prints on her Slama press using Cranfield Caglio Safe wash or VanSon on Awagami Factory Japanese papers.

Originating from Montreal, Canada, she studied in London, and has lived and worked in Bergen, Norway for the past 15 years.
