Dana Bergstrom, a relief printmaker based in Austin, TX, but originally from the Southern California desert, is the maker behind DryHeat.Press. She tells us; “Being from a dry desert, the humidity of Texas took some getting used to, but occasionally a dry heat will blow through and make the most gorgeous day and would remind me of my hometown. Thus, the name Dry Heat Press!”
“I am desert, cowboy, cactus, bird, animal, rodeo… honestly, anything American Southwest obsessed,” says the printmaker. This southwestern theme reminds Dana of her childhood, her childhood home, and her hometown. In fact, her parent’s house is still decorated in the same southwestern theme, so she is always getting new memories and ideas when she visits!
Dana has been printmaking since 2012 after first learning in a required college course for her degree. Here, she fell completely in love with the technique and has been practising it ever since. She graduated from Whittier College (California) in 2015, earning both a Bachelors degree in Studio Arts with a concentration in Printmaking, and a Bachelors degree in Business with a minor in Strategic Management.
Currently, Dana runs her print shop, DryHeat.Press, through Etsy, and is also employed full-time as a System Administrator. Follow along for an inside look at her new pieces!
