Print-based media, including silkscreen, photography, book design, Risograph and letterpress are fundamental to EimearJean McCormack’s artistic practice. “Silkscreen is an incredibly versatile medium and by far my favourite to use as It allows me to work intuitively,” says the printmaker. However, recently, she has been experimenting with Risograph printing.

Similar to screen printing in both process and aesthetic, the immediacy of Risograph and its ability to produce multiple-colour prints relatively quickly has allowed EimearJean to incorporate a more spontaneous and experimental approach to image making and publication design. Currently, she is working on series of Risograph prints that are derived from spontaneous black and white ink sketches that looks at a diverse range of themes, from intimate moments of reflection to broader glimpses of fleeting beauty. The collection includes a variety of colour experiments and variations, exploring shape, line and composition. The prints combine the two processes into limited edition pieces printed on Munken Paper.

EimeaJean earned a master’s in fine art Print from the University of the Arts London in 2007 and later completed a second master’s in Graphic Design focusing on publication design with an emphasis on artists’ books and zine culture. She is currently participating in a group exhibition at Ireland’s pavilion at Expo in Osaka, Japan. This exhibition, titled Kwaidan, has previously travelled to several locations, including The Embassy of Ireland in Tokyo, KURA MONZEN Gallery in Kyoto, The Hunt Museum in Limerick and Farmleigh in Dublin. Previous exhibitions include Print Now at the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork, Halftone at The Library Project in Dublin, New Prints at The International Print Center in New York, The Future Is Self-Organized at Limerick City Gallery of Art and the Summer Show at The Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA).
