Anna Rose Garrett is the artist behind Good Seed Craft Co. Residing in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, and most often working from the comfort of her dining room table, Anna Rose uses the simplest tools to create her linocut prints that explore the natural world and the way that spirituality and humanity is reflected therein.
Anna Rose studied Printmaking at Berry College in North Georgia and spent several years in the world of Art Education before endeavouring to start Good Seed Craft Co. She tells us; “I started Good Seed Craft Co to fight against my own inferiority complex. As a perfectionist, I’ve always found it difficult to share my work and confidently claim the title of “artist”. I knew that starting Good Seed Craft Co would challenge me to share my work with confidence and motivate me towards growth as I hone my craft.” The birth of her business also coincided closely with the birth of her son. Anna Rose comments; “I realised that I wanted to be an example to my children of someone who pursues the things that bring them joy no matter the potential for failure.”
As a former Art Educator Anna Rose’s passion is to encourage people towards creative outlets. She states; “Broadly speaking, I can’t help but feel that Art is now more necessary and counter-cultural than ever. It requires intentionality, curiosity, perseverance, and the courage to fail; qualities which are so rarely cultivated today.” As Good Seed Craft Co continues to grow, Anna Rose hopes it can become not only a platform for her own personal work, but a space where people are challenged to be creative and provided with resources that meet them where they are at.
One of Anna Rose’s favourite projects to date has been a commission piece she completed for the release of the album A Spring May Well Up by Jacob Goins. “Jacob is a dear friend and talented musician, who trusted me to create a piece based on whatever the music organically inspired,” says the printmaker. After several listens of the complete album, Anna Rose created Communion, a linocut print depicting a moment of divine connection experienced through the beauty of creation. “It is a true joy, any time I get to create in collaboration with a fellow artist,” describes Anna Rose.
Currently, she is working on pushing herself to create larger scale prints and has several new pieces in process. Anna Rose concludes; “I am constantly exploring and learning new ways to hone my craft, and am delighted to be apart of such a robust community of artists”.
