Munich-based photographer Johannes Schwartz has released his latest publication in the High Series entitled ‘Tiergarten’ – a risographed publication showcasing the work by Schwartz and also produced as an integral part of the current exhibition On the Move: Storytelling in Contemporary Photography and Graphic Design at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Making a photo book is always a good way of telling stories and unlike other photographic publications, Tiergarten has exploited this new economical technology and showcases how reliable a Riso-printer is of handling many aspects of bookmaking and of producing beautiful, quality photographic journals.
The High Series was initiated by Schwartz in collaboration with independent Amsterdam-based design studio Experimental Jetset in 2003. And Tiergarten is the first publication in the series that uses Risograph printing. Schwartz has succeeded and here is a look at his ingenious output.
