With his graduate project featured on design giants Itsnicethat and AIGA Eye of Design, Swedish graphic designer Johan Elmehag has been accepted as an official People of Print Member. After studying at Malmö University, Sweden, he became interested in small press publishing and typography and created his carefully constructed design publication A-Z: Coast to Coast Shore to Shore. A publication that visualises the geographical impact of climate change through a constructed typeface design.
Elmehag recently ended an internship at NODE Berlin/Oslo where he was introduced to get anther print process, riso printing. He was also introduced to the Norwegian Risograph Association, and has since thought about setting up his own association for risographers. Next up for Elmehag is to move into the woods to start cultivating vegetables meanwhile also starting an independent type foundry under the name FoundFound Foundry. Soon to be up and running in the spring of this year. The foundry will focus on contemporary and consciously produced typefaces with the first to be released; a freshly made font by type designer Alexander Örn. Watch this space for more of Elmehag’s work.
