The juxtaposition of high and low culture is a central aspect of work created by Marcus Irwin, an independent multidisciplinary artist and printmaker from London. Heavily influenced by emerging culture and social desires, he works in illustration, screen printing, stencil, collage, spray paint, and digital printing techniques to create art pieces that profile how social relationships are changing radically. Whether or not you agree with his statements, one things for sure Irwin has definitely done a great job confirming and questioning the visual language that surrounds us daily.
Marcus Irwin is also one of the featured artists in the ‘People of Print’ book by Marcroy Smith and Andy Cooke, published in 2015 by Thames & Hudson. You can find out more about the book here.
