Working from Utrecht, The Netherlands, Petra Verkade is a designer and printmaker whose work is bold, colourful, illustrative, and often experimental. While studying at art school she developed her love for Risograph and screen print; a passion that she has continued to explore since graduating.
Today, her most frequently used printing technique is the Risograph printer, however, for her new piece, Wanderer, Petra decided to step away from this method, and instead returned to screen printing (“another technique technique I love, even though it requires less patience”).
Wanderer exemplifies Petra’s aesthetic, with bold and strong colours, and surrealist imagery. The piece is a hand-pulled, 4 colour screenprint printed on 300 gsm Carson paper with a textured finish. Petra comments; “It was quite a challenge. However, I’m thrilled with the clean and bright result!”
