Maria Atanackovic, also known as Maluda is an Irish/Serbian artist, textile and surface designer based in Dublin, Ireland. She currently works primarily through the medium of screen printing to produce bold, abstract prints. In her work, colour, shape and movement are used to express feelings and emotions. Maria is particularly drawn to clean lines, vibrant colour and the way shapes can interact with, or become organic forms.
Maria holds a BA in Surface Design from University of the Arts, London where she specialised in printed textiles. As a creative explorer, she has worked across many fields licensing artwork to numerous companies. Over the years Maria has won awards for her pattern designs and exhibited at international trade shows.
From 2017 – 2019, Maria was a member of Print Block, a now defunct collective of independent textile designers who worked together to grow the industry in Ireland. During her time here, she developed her personal design practice, taught workshops and collaborated with external bodies to produce printed textiles.
More recently, Maria’s focus has shifted from designing repeat patterns to screen printing original artwork. With her background in printed textiles, the move felt natural, almost inevitable. She is currently a member of Damn Fine Print in Dublin’s Stoneybatter where she creates limited edition screen prints.
