Will Sweeney showed us his latest episodes in an ongoing series of stories set in alternate universes, kind of like stills from imaginary movies with nods to his love of The Cramps, Rank Zerox and his interest in voodoo ceremony.
‘The Regent Is Dead’ was inspired by the Add N To X song of the same name and the strange S&M/retro-futuristic universe that that band dreamed up.. It’s also representative of my love of carnival costume and ritualistic fancy dress; Halloween parades, flagellant processions and fiestas.
‘Power Ceremony’ depicts an analogue magical ritual, deep in the mangroves of a forgotten jungle. It was inspired by ‘Fin De Siecle’ – Ralf Marsault’s photographs of 1980’s punks, bikers and skinheads.
