Entering the final stretch of a hot, sticky London summer, what better time to revisit the refreshing Greenland series by artist Zaria Forman. Part painter, part environmental pioneer, Zaria aims to document and address the issues of climate change in her work. She first visits her chosen destination to explore the landscape, before creating an exquisite example of photorealism using pastels and paints. Working mainly from photographs, Zaria briefly sketches out each piece in pencil before adding layers of pigment and smudging to achieve carved surface and fluid movement in stillness.
