Typographic Printing Program in Switzerland is an intense type-focused poster design class in the studio of the Swiss poster designer Dafi Kühne.
Over the course of 12 days, participants have the opportunity to work on a total of 250–400 analogue sketches (per participant), and through this iterative process develop a toolset and a vocabulary of how to semantically connect content and visuals. There are approximately 10 hours of type theory, 3 evening guest lectures, printing experiments, analogue layout (hand waxing) exercises, and even Swiss Raclette dinner! At the end of the two weeks, each participant is able to hand print a letterpress poster in a small edition in up to 4 print runs.
The Typographic Printing Program is based in the vast letterpress studio of Dafi Kühne in Näfels, in the small mountain valley of Kanton Glarus. Since 2016 more than 100 participants from a total of 22 different countries have participated in the sessions. It’s the perfect summer program for type-nerds and poster design geeks!
Two sessions are offered in summer 2023:
Session III: June 25–July 8, 2023
Session IV: July 23–August 5, 2023
Application deadline has been extended until June 1, 2023.
