Disintegration: A Limited Edition Serigraph by TMRWLND

posted by People of Print Features February 6, 2026

Disintegration is a limited edition serigraph by Dereck Seltzer, working under the name TMRWLND. The work examines the moment where human identity begins to fracture under technological pressure, continuing the artist’s ongoing investigation into chaos, control, and the future of the body in an era shaped by surveillance, systems, and artificial intelligence.

Rooted in references to dystopian science fiction, cosmic horror, and media theory, Disintegration reflects a world in which the boundary between biological life and artificial systems is increasingly unstable. The image conveys a sense of collapse and unease, suggesting a subject caught between control and dissolution, where individuality erodes under constant observation and technological influence.

The work was produced as an 18 × 18 inch hand-pulled serigraph, printed in a single colour on archival French Paper. This restrained palette reinforces the starkness of the image, allowing form and composition to carry the conceptual weight of the piece. The use of analogue screen printing is intentional, creating a physical counterpoint to the digital themes embedded in the work. The tactile nature of the process asserts the presence of the hand at a time when images are increasingly flattened and dematerialised.

The edition consists of 40 signed and numbered prints, alongside six hand-painted multiples that are uniquely embellished by the artist, and five artist proofs. Each print was produced in Detroit in 2026, emphasising the artist’s continued commitment to DIY production and material engagement.

Working across print, illustration, and writing, Seltzer’s practice blends lo-fi aesthetics with elements of commercial design, shaped by early exposure to skateboarding, heavy metal, and graffiti culture. Under the TMRWLND name, his work frequently explores themes of identity, control, and collapse, using physical processes to interrogate the psychological and cultural effects of living in an increasingly mediated world.
