Jeffrey Simmons is a visual artist from Washington, USA. After painting for nearly 20 years, creating work with oil and acrylic on canvas, a necessary studio downsize meant switching his medium to watercolours. Using a process where layers of transparent pigment are built up on one another, he bases his patterns on scientific and astronomical references. There is an unusual and mysterious, symbolic quality to these watercolour creations, a beautiful result from a simple material.
