We are more than excited to announce the launch of our website for Element 003 of Print Isn’t Dead magazine, as featured by Grafik, Design Milk, Booooooom!, Stack, Collective Magazine, magCulture and the Pull & Bear blog. This time around we are inviting you to personalise the front cover of your copy, using up to 250 characters, either for yourself or as a gift to another. Our designer James Lunn will typeset each cover individually using the awesome Patron typeface by Milieu Grotesque, who we have teamed up with alongside Hewlett-Packard, Pureprint Group and Fedrigoni to bring you our latest issue. HP® Indigo technology allows us to print high quality and totally unique covers, using your wonderful text submissions.
Element 003 looks at the themes of personalisation, variable data, digital printing and the idea of permanence. This issue features the likes of Eike König, Hansje van Halem, YEVU Clothing, Peter Judson, Studio Moross, Kin Design, Brixton Brewery plus many more.
We will be printing white ink using HP® Indigo technology at the Pureprint facility in Uckfield, directly onto Sirio Ultra Black paper! We are litho printing the body of the publication using just three colours; Pantone 638u (blue), Pantone 1505u (orange) and black.
Here is a sneek-peek at an article from Element 003 written by Freya Faulkner:-
“This is your membership card; this is our tribe. We are collectively shoring up, sharing and defining our identities through its existence and our common passion for print. We are simultaneously investigating, expanding and redefining our identities through its dialogue as we look to push the horizons of what we know. What is more, here in Element 003, we have invited you to further strengthen your bond to this publication and to our tribe by commissioning you to blazon a bit of yourself across the cover. We want you to join us.
Come join us and immortalise a part of yourself here too with us. Through this magazines pages throw yourself more definitively into the fray, the noise and exchange of the tribe. In doing so you become an actual indisputable part of the magazines history and similarly we become a more discernible part of yours. You maybe more disposed to share the magazine with friends, to show them what you did. You might be more inclined to keep it and value it in a less disposable way. This is a mutually beneficial exchange that satisfies, entertains and enriches us both, creators and readers, through an intersecting singular act.
Give us a bit more of your time, attention and headspace in formulating, writing and requesting your cover and on the flip-side we can give you more of our time, attention and headspace processing, laying out and rendering your words. That way we are better and more lasting be connected. There is more passion and time invested here than a thumbs up on Facebook. Keep putting yourself into the medium and the medium will keeping putting itself back into you.”
We have kindly been supported by Grafik and Design Milk for this issue which will be published mid-May and launched at the London Graphic Centre in June.
