Wood, they say, is the new modernism. Amsterdam-based (Typo)graphic design studio NovoTypo have teamed up with LenoirSchuring and Grafisch Werkcentrum Amsterdam to present Typewood – their new collaborative experiment with colourful and multi-layered wood type. The type was produced using hypermodern CNC milling machines and printed on antique letterpress proof presses. Every artwork comprises four different print runs on high-quality Fedrigoni paper stock.
On Saturday 4th July, NovoTypo will showcase this new typeface at Grafisch Werkcentrum in Amsterdam. This will also mark its first public demonstration of this glorious type. Participants will get a chance to learn about the history of this new typeface and get their hands on the limited-edition publication that was set and printed by LenoirSchuring. Forgot to mention the Do It Yourself Letterpress workshop that will teach you all the basics. So if yoou’ll be in Amsterdam that day, RSVP here!
