Have you ever wondered why children adore books with varied textures and colourful illustrations? Inspired by a trip to France and Spain, partners Masato Nakada and Karen To Nakada, aka ‘The Happen Studio’, visited local bookshops, discovered many amazing childrens books and then decided to create ‘Paper Playbook’; a publication designed to tell stories through colourful sheets of paper and interactive composition.
Los Angeles-based print and digital media design studio The Happening offers both creative design and brand solutions to clients of all sizes. And as much as they are interested in different printing techniques, the partner opted for an experimentation and created this colourful Paper Playbook which serves as a tool to explore the potentials and possibilities of paper and loose narratives. We are intrigued to see how a new composition is revealed as you turn each page, changing the meaning of the page previously viewed and divulging a bit about what you can expect to see next.
