Ricky Adam is a Northern Ireland based creative who has worked on various photographic projects across Ireland, Europe and America. Two of his photo books, Belfast Punk – ‘Warzone Centre 1997 – 2003’ and M1 are new to our curated marketplace, Department Store.

Belfast Punk – ‘Warzone Centre 1997 – 2003 documents photographs taken in the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland in a punk D.I.Y. space known as the ‘Warzone Centre’ between 1997 and 2003. After opening in 1984, the ‘Warzone Centre’ became the counter-cultural alternative hub for the greater Belfast area and beyond. It soon became infamous as one of the most credible venues in Europe for D.I.Y. punk. The 176 page, hardcover book was published by Damiani and printed in Italy.

The second publication, M1, is composed of 20 photographs of discarded bottles of urine found along Britain’s best known motorway, the M1, spanning the 193 mile route between London and Leeds. The photographs were taken over 3 years between 2015-2017. “A travelogue narrated through bodily effluent. A motorway journey described in the call and response of the full bladder. A British road movie – Two Lane Blacktop and Wild At Heart reduced to a trail of piss-filled plastic bottles”. The book is 4-colour litho printed and comes with a fold out 8 page softcover.
