Utrecht-based graphic design and illustrator Petra Verkade’s Risograph calendar is ideal for jotting down all of your friends and families birthdays. Making the Risograph birthday calendar was a fun process for the designer; “I enjoyed the freedom of designing without constraints, creating colourful, vibrant compositions.”

After digital designing and layer splitting, the Risograph machine brought Petra’s designs to life, layer by layer. Each printing layer added a new surprising touch, and made the colours pop even more.
The printing process was time-consuming, but also “challenging and fun”. Every month is printed in two colour layers, using the colours: blue, fluor pink, yellow, and red. The vibrant prints are carefully selected, cut in the right size, and hand-bound by Petra in her studio. She concludes; “I think the result turned out pretty great. And I’m already looking forward to making a new one!”
