Couleur Aube, aka Marion, has just launched a stunning new collection of linocut prints based around the city of New York – the place that she calls home. Through these new artworks, Marion takes the viewer on a visual journey, immersing them in the iconic Manhattan skyline, leading them through the hipster streets of Greenpoint, and even inviting them to join her for a quick coffee break at a Gourmet Deli.
To create the series, Marion used Japanese Vinyl or classic Lino, which she meticulously engraved. She then printed the designs with care to achieve monochrome prints. To add a touch of magic and depth, she has also incorporated gouache, drawing the sun and intricate details. “I love how the combination of these materials and techniques brings my linoprints to life from new perspectives,” says the printmaker.
Inspired by the vibrant cityscape, Marion’s intention was to transform the bustling streets of New York into a poetic jungle. Through the series she captures the energy, diversity, and undeniable charm that makes New York an extraordinary place.
“I invite you to explore these prints as they transport you into a world where concrete meets the untamed, where skyscrapers coexist harmoniously with lush foliage, and where the urban jungle is reimagined as a poetic landscape.”
