Born in Iran, raised in Hong Kong, and now based in Singapore Steve Lawler (aka Mojoko) comes from a background in Graphic Design from Brighton University and a 3 year residency in the prestigious FABRICA creative centre in Italy. Jumping between New Media, Sculpture, Screen Printing and curating he is also owner of a very low-down dirty punk gallery by the name of Kult and running a quarterly publication of the same name.
Working and collaborating for over 10 years with some of the worlds most exciting artists and pioneers in visual culture. He is currently putting out his own prints and artwork which have been inspired from being based in Asia, his work is a mash-up of east and west. The collision of cultures he sees, is the inspiration for the maximalist approach taken in the work. In his own words “A reaction to the daily bombardment of garbage from the Television and Advertising”
His works can be found on http://www.mojoko.net and his magazine is free and available through subscription at http://www.kult.com.sg/site/shop
