Tintamuda Studio is a unique place for developing artists to cultivate their creativity in the visual arts. Run and founded by Alessandro and Margherita, artists and printmakers, their fully equipped studio specialises in printmaking techniques from the historic to the modern, covering engraving to screen printing on textiles. The studio is a dynamic environment for artistic exploration. They state; “We believe in nurturing and unleashing talent by providing the tools, space and guidance necessary for creativity to flourish”.
The foundations for the studio were created back in 2018, after the pair decided to create their own workshop where they could combine their artistic research in printmaking with their experience in education, outside of conventional contexts. Alessandro and Margherita renovated a garage (Margherita’s father’s) to create their space. They comment; “This process took a while because we decided to restore old equipment from other studios, some of which took time to collect and repair. On the other hand, this is in line with our values of reducing waste and reusing things.”
Tintamuda Studio then started in 2022, and is now a place where Alessandro and Margherita develop various projects based on the requests and ideas of the artists they collaborate with. Their team works in synergy with local artisans, including upholsterers and tailors, to create products ranging from printed textiles to packaging. Although they enjoy printing on textiles, more frequently they create limited editions on paper.
The studio is located close to the countryside, yet not too far from the main cities of Northern Italy. Therefore, the pair’s inspiration comes from both the natural and the urban environment. Influence also comes from a variety of sources, but they are particularly fascinated by the cultural and social field.
“Our mission is to create a community of emerging artists to work with and share our experience. Our residency program is tailored for visual artists, offering short, intensive stays ranging from days to weeks,” state Alessandro and Margherita. Looking to the future, they hope to expand their educational program by involving more artists, which will allow for experimentation with support from experienced professionals.
