Melissa Donne is an illustrator and maker from the South Coast of England. She predominantly works in the medium of digital illustration and Risography, and is currently exploring more widely the possibilities of both mediums in order to further expand and develop her creative practice.
Melissa’s work is heavily influenced by all things botanical, and her illustrations are characterised by a contemporary aesthetic and strong use of colour. She describes; “I find the medium of Risograph printing perfectly complements my style and approach and emphasises the vibrant colour palettes I love to work with“. The illustrator is working on further experimenting with the Riso printing process, with the aim of creating more work which explores colour, texture, and form.
Whilst studying Fashion Design and Production at university, Melissa cemented her love of colour and pattern. She followed this with a Masters degree in Film Theory before returning to a creative vocation, and she now works full-time as an illustrator and print designer, selling her work via various platforms and retail outlets, including Department Store.
Melissa hopes to continue widely exploring printmaking techniques to build a portfolio of work that is underpinned by a playful aesthetic, combined with strong and emerging technical skills.
